And SA's top vehicle brands for customer service are...
Cape Town - Buying a car should be a pleasure, so which automakers make sure you drive off with a smile – and deliver a pleasurable experience during car servicing?
According to the 2017 Ipsos quality survey, German brands top the tables when it comes to buying a car or bakkie in South Africa.
Audi and Volkswagen continue to set standards in the Ipsos Competitive Customer Experience survey, covering the 2016 calendar year. Ipsos interviewed more than 22 000 customers about their purchasing and servicing experience in 2016.
German brands shine
Both brands collected Gold Awards for the Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Purchasing Experience for the fifth consecutive year. Audi also collected Gold for the fifth year for Passenger Car Servicing, while VW grabbed Gold for the second year in a row for Passenger Car Servicing.

Audi, VW shine in customer service - Ipsos
VW was award Gold for the fourth time in the past five years for LCV servicing.
Audi and Volkswagen both qualified for Gold in the Passenger Car Purchasing category, with Chevrolet, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Opel, Toyota, and Volvo qualifying for Silver, while Ford, Honda and Renault collected Bronze.
Four other brands, besides Volkswagen, qualified for gold in terms of the LCV Purchasing Experience - Chevrolet, Isuzu, Nissan, and Toyota. Ford was the sole recipient of Silver in the LCV Purchasing Experience category.
What about servicing your car in SA?
In terms of Servicing Experience, Nissan collected Gold along with Audi and Volkswagen in the passenger car category. Chevrolet, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Opel and Toyota qualified for Silver and Honda, Renault and Volvo collected Bronze.
Volkswagen was joined by four other brands in the Gold category for LCV servicing. These four being - Chevrolet, Isuzu, Nissan, and Toyota, while Ford collected Silver. There were no awards in the Bronze category.
Patrick Busschau, the Ipsos SA Automotive Business Director, said: "All the brands who won awards should be congratulated as they are all showing a consistent commitment to improvement over time in delivering good service to their customers when their customers are purchasing or servicing vehicles.
