Pakistani carmaker MCML has begun exporting SUVs to Africa
In a historic development for the automotive sector in Pakistan, Master Changan Motors Ltd. (MCML), an alliance with Changan International, has effectively shipped 14 Oshan X7 SUVs to Kenya in the first batch, a pivotal point in the history of automobiles in the nation.
This is the first time a Pakistani carmaker has exported large quantities of high-tech SUVs labelled "Made in Pakistan" to a foreign market.
The historic export ceremony took place in Karachi, and Master Changan Motors CEO Danial Malik expressed his excitement for this significant milestone, saying, "We are taking our next major step to achieve our vision of making Master Changan a part of Changan's global vehicle supply chain under the 'Vast Ocean Plan,' while putting Pakistan on the map for producing and exporting high-quality vehicles to the world." Kenya and Tanzania are just the beginning of our efforts to increase export quantities."
This historic event, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), demonstrates Pakistan and China's extensive economic cooperation.
Zhu Huarong, the chairman of Changan worldwide, unveiled the "Vast Ocean" plan earlier this year, which outlined a plan to quicken worldwide growth and position Changan as a top brand. The strategy calls for a large $10 billion investment in international markets, with an emphasis on intelligent low-carbon core technologies.
By 2030, Changan Automobile wants to reach 90% of the world's markets and increase its presence in Europe, America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Master Changan Pakistan is going to be essential to the global right-hand drive (RHD) market as part of Changan's "Vast Ocean" ambition. The policies of the Pakistani government to encourage and support the automobile sector are crucial to the country's ability to successfully export "Made in Pakistan" automobiles.
Danial Malik thanked the government for the car export policy 2021–2026 but emphasised the need for further measures to boost local manufacturing, expand economies of scale, promote further localization, and strengthen the auto industry's global competitiveness.
This accomplishment by Master Changan Motors Ltd. is a critical turning point in the history of Pakistan's automotive sector and demonstrates the country's capacity to manufacture and export premium automobiles to the global market. It is evidence of the robust economic ties between China and Pakistan and a positive step towards Changan's ascent to prominence in the global automotive industry as part of the "Vast Ocean" strategy.
