Global Auto is named as the BMW Group's Egyptian importer

BMW Group, the world's leading premium producer of luxury, sporty, and electric vehicles, announced the selection of Global Auto Group as BMW and MINI's new importer in Egypt.

The announcement was made at a press conference that was attended by Jan Noether, CEO and Board Member of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Thomas Rinn, BMW Group President for Africa and Eastern Europe, Fahad Alghanim, Chairperson of Global Auto Group, Mohamed Kandeel, CEO of Global Auto Group, Ghanem Saqr Alghanim, Kuwait's Ambassador to Cairo, as well as senior executives from BMW Group and Global Auto Group.

In addition, Global Auto Group purchased Bavarian Auto Group, the former importer of both premium brands in Egypt, in a deal that included the existing network of service centres, dealerships, and the BMW assembly factory. BMW's assembly factory features three manufacturing lines capable of producing 10,000 vehicles each year.

Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive from Kuwait, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors from Saudi Arabia, Al-Organi Group, and Al-Safi Group from Egypt joined forces to form Global Auto Group. As a BMW Group importer with more than three decades of expertise serving the luxury auto market in Kuwait and Iraq, Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive is well-known in the area. In a similar vein, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors has been the exclusive importer of BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce in Saudi Arabia for more than 20 years and has a proven track record in both sales and after-sales services.

Global Auto has a bold strategy to increase its presence in the Egyptian market in order to meet the rising demand for BMW and MINI in one of Africa's nations with the highest rates of economic growth. In addition to creating new showrooms and service centres around the nation, particularly in major urban locations, their strategy calls for renovating the two premium brands' currently operating showrooms and service centres (BMW Retail Next).

Global Auto is equally as committed to sustainability as the BMW Group, with an emphasis on protecting natural resources. Global Auto will introduce BMW I all-electric vehicles into the Egyptian market in order to meet this objective. Additionally, it will use solar-generated electricity and water recycling techniques in its new showrooms, all of which are in line with the BMW Group's ultimate goal of becoming a fully sustainable business and with Egypt's 2030 Vision and sustainable development plans.

Rinn thanked everyone for inviting him back to Egypt during the occasion by saying: “I am happy to be back in the interesting city of Cairo to congratulate the Egyptian government on the successful holding of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Sharm El-Sheikh. Moreover, to provide critical information regarding the BMW Group's future in Egypt. It gives me great honour to formally announce that I have chosen Global Auto to serve as the new importer for BMW and MINI in Egypt. Egypt is one of the most significant markets for the BMW Group in Africa, and we will offer our full range of mobility solutions there because there is no "one-size-fits-all" solution when it comes to addressing the needs of each individual customer, particularly in Egypt.”

Alghanim, for his part, said: "We are happy to be named the new importer of BMW and MINI in Egypt and we look forward to supporting all present and prospective BMW and MINI owners. The rapidly expanding automotive industry in Egypt presents a tremendous potential for investment, and we are certain that we can raise the profile of luxury brands like BMW and MINI in Egypt's high-end car market. In the upcoming years, Global Auto will also make over EGP 1 billion in investments and add 2,000 new employees to provide our clients with cutting-edge retail and service experiences that exceed their expectations."
