Isuzu East Africa provides the ministry with 48 cars in leasing deal

Isuzu East Africa, a motor vehicle manufacturer, has delivered 48 double max trucks to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of Government, completing the final batch of 210 vehicles under the lease deal signed in 2013.

The total contract value is Sh4.6 billion and includes 514 units of pick-ups, buses, and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for deployment to personnel in that ministry such as the National Police Service, sub-county and county commissioners.

Mr Charles Kariuki, Isuzu Finance and Strategy Director said "We thank the government for being a loyal customer over the years and for showing its commitment to investing in our vehicles today as we hand over 48 Isuzu double max pickups to the national administration officers to complete the 345 delivery to the ministry of interior."

The national government's ministry of interior and coordination is at the top of the list of Isuzu clients who have accepted the leasing model of ownership. Dr. Fred Matiangi acquired 162 Isuzu double cabin pickup trucks for the ministry last month.

The local assembly of Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks contributes to the Big four agenda's manufacturing pillar.

"This agreement reflects the federal government's support for locally produced items. It is a textbook illustration of how buy Kenya build Kenya can revitalise the country's economy," Mr Kariuki added.

Since the introduction of the leasing model by the government, Isuzu has delivered almost 1000 cars to the national government, corporates, county governments, and SMEs.
