Mahindra to export Blazo to Africa
Some time ago, Mahindra had released a new platform of Blazo heavy duty trucks, to the strong approval of the Indian market. The company is now planning to capitalise on the conducive atmosphere by having the vehicles exported abroad as well. At present, the brand has its eye on Africa, and will be rolling its trucks out to the continent within the coming year and a half. The company views a huge business potential in the region, driven by high demands for the heavy duty commercial vehicle sector. The condition of infrastructure and transport in Africa are in a parallel with India, where rising economic activity has been boosting truck sales.
The model had been launched during the recent Auto Expo event, held in Delhi. The company had initiated the launch of the truck in Hyderabad, and the range included tippers, tractor trailers and haulage trucks that would appeal to a broad range of work sectors. Nalin Mehta, CEO of the company's commercial vehicles division, was also present at the event.
“Already about 10 percent of our sales comes from exports. We will perhaps go to some parts of Africa in the coming 18 months. We may begin shipment with our latest heavy truck model Blazo and other SCVs,” said Mr Mehta. Mr Mehta foresees a wide expansion in the company's market share in the M&HCV segment, and hopes for them to double their position within the coming two years. He commented, “Our truck and bus business has been growing steadily. We are confident that new Blazo HCV range will further enhance our position in the market.”
